WHAT BROUGHT US TO GOAT MILK SOAP?
The seeds were planted long ago for WooZey Acres by my father in law Mr. Jerry Ellzey. He poured his soul into the land we now own making it almost completely ready for us to start our own little farm. Add to that he taught my wife Amanda what it meant to have a farm and gave her a love and appreciation for all animals. Then you throw me, the city boy, into the picture in 2010. I was not raised on a farm or around livestock, but I did also have a love for animals. Now that doesn’t mean I didn’t look at my wife like she was crazy when she told me she wanted to start raising Nigerian Dwarf goats. After much prodding, she did finally convince me to get started with just two goats in 2014. Well, needless to say, we fell in love with them. That’s right. We fell in love with goats.. Turns out they aren’t just crazy-eyed little beasts that are always looking to get into trouble. Well the last part is pretty accurate, but they do also have very unique personalities and are some of the funniest animals you will ever be around. Don’t believe me? Look up some videos of bucks in rut. Anyway, the grand plan was to use their milk to make soap to offset the cost of the farm. Well, that was way back in 2014 and we hit a lot of bumps in the road between now and then. Finally, in the summer of 2018 we were able to really start working on getting our bath and beauty products going. Given the fact we had 4 years to create and tweak our recipes we think we have created some of the best soaps and other bath and beauty products out there. Not to mention we both learned to love our crafts and strive to constantly improve our products. We began to realize this could be more than just a little side project to help with farm expenses. I mostly handle the soaps and shampoos while my wife handles the bath bombs, milk baths, and other products. She’s pretty good at it right? Combined we have over 30 years of customer service experience, and I personally have over 15 years experience in quality control. We feel both are very important and have modeled our business to focus on customer service and quality. After all, the two go hand in hand. Oh, and the name! I know it’s a little funny and quirky which is exactly how we are, and it plays perfectly with our farm and family. Did I mention we have two daughters? Both work full-time jobs, two daughters and make bath products in our "spare time". Yikes!! Clearly we must love doing it. Back on track here. The name is a combination of our family name, Wootan, and my wife’s maiden name Ellzey to pay tribute to my father in law. Funny how that worked out right. Thank you again for visiting our page and I apologize if I rambled on a bit. Hopefully we will be hearing a lot from you!
